VidiView is a network based and all digital solution for recording, viewing, distributing and storing
medical and clinical video for educational and documentative purposes.
Whether you want to document student interaction, use of
medical equipment, response to critical alarms or an actual
surgical procedure carried out - VidiView will do it for you!
VidiView digitally records images from cameras or medical
equipment (ultrasound, x-ray, vitals signs monitors etc.) to
ensure full coverage of the examination and deliver the 'full
picture' in every picture!
Alongside with the VidiView-unit, a camera setup is
installed in your educational environment to create an onthe-
fly recording solution - ready at any moment without
the fuzz of tapes, discs, cables or dead batteries! No extra
staff is needed in you environment to perform the
recording and the ability to create a realistic training
scenario is great! A click on the VidiView control box and
you are on the air!
Recordings can be pre-planned in the client software
scheduler tool. Plan examinations, lab work and other
training sessions weeks ahead and get a comprehensive
overview of your faculty activity!
Once the recording is completed it's stored in the VidiViewserver
(located in a data center). The users always have
full access to all the recorded material from their desktop
PCs - through the VidiView-client software.
Users have access levels corresponding to their user role
and multiple users can use the system at the same time,
carrying out different tasks.
The recordings can be reviewed and edited in the client
software. Export to a presentation DVD or for use in
presentation software (i.e. PowerPoint) is also possible.
Most features of the system are configurable to comply
with faculty documentation standards.

Other application areas could be showcasing pre-recorded
or live sessions to a audience of candidates at a seminar.
All you need is your portable PC with the VidiView-client
installed and a network- or Internet-connection. This unique
way of bringing a medical event out of its original context
offers almost endless possibilities in terms of education,
demonstration and conferencing.

Pict. 2 - The easy-to-use interface, lets the user browse, view, edit,
file or discard of previously recorded material at a desktop PC - all in
the user interface built to support educational environments!
Along with the recording feature comes the possibility to
broadcast sessions live, over the network or the Internet,
including live audio communication between the audience
and the physician at work. A much appreciated feature
when giving interactive lectures!

Pict. 3 - The ability to share work from an OR or review candidate
examinations with the class are valueable tools for most, modern
medical traning programs of today.
Other application areas for live sessions might be
examinations or training sessions where it's appropriate to
leave the candidate alone with the patient or task at hand.
Network connectivity demands are as low as 5Mbit/s for
diagnostic quality video. 5Mbit/s also tends to be a setup
easily acquirable at most modern conference centers as
well as for residential use.
Due to modern technology, highly effective encoding- and
compression algorithms and reliable and powerful
computing power which is present in most modern
computers we can offer unsurpassed picture quality -
attainable from most camera sources. The digital video
standard used within the system is specialized In
emphasizing even the smallest details as well as cooping
with complicated light and color conditions. With the right
camera or image source you will be producing very ‘true
to original’ recordings in your class room!

Pict. 4 - The user interface, watching an active surgery session in
realtime. If needed and allowed the user can perform camera control
(pan, tilt, zoom) during the session. Full two-way audio
communications is available at all times.
The intuitive VidiView-client user interface makes the
system easy to learn and use, even for untrained
personnel. The learning curve for getting started as well as
reaching an expert user level, is very flat and will be
attainable for most faculty staff.
Storage solution for both unprocessed and processed
recordings (edited and commented) is available within the
VidiView-system. All storage is database driven to ensure
reliability, effective and secure backup as well as industry
standard data security.
The key feature of the VidiView-system is one you already
have. Your existing, IP-based, hospital network is one of
the key component that puts the beauty to the solution! It
gives you the power to move around and distribute the
recordings as you wish and provides you with full access
to them - everywhere and at all times! Thanks to this
facility and our unique way of unleashing the power of it
you can excel in educational video documentation - today
and in the future!
The VidiView-system is developed in close relation with
forefront actors of the Swedish healthcare and educational
systems. The focus has been to meet actual needs of real
life scenarios as well as boosting the performance and
quality of faculty documentative tasks carried out on a daily
basis.
This work has resulted in a unique and specialized
system, based on plain, standard PC technology available
at every modern healthcare facility. Each part of the
VidiView-system is linked together using your existing, IPbased
network - "Plain and simple" as your IT-department
will put it!
This 'simple' approach helps you utilize your general IT
investments more efficiently - you buy a new desktop PC -
VidiView runs better and faster! This is a synergy seldom
seen with specialized medtech equipment!
